Jordan Lax Stands for Love and Hope for the Youth
Atteridgeville Artist Uses Music to Spread Love and Hope, Empowering the Youth
Clement Magongwe, an artist hailing from Atteridgeville, is making a significant impact by using his music to bring love and hope to the community, particularly the aspiring young musicians. His passion extends beyond his own career as he focuses on social development and empowering the youth.
Clement, known by his stage name Jordan Lax, embarked on his musical journey at a tender age of eight when he recorded his very first song. Since then, his mission has been to support and guide the young talents in his community, enabling them to pursue their dreams in the music industry while emphasizing the importance of social growth.
“My ultimate goal is to assist the younger generation in recognizing their worth and working diligently to achieve their dreams and aspirations,” Clement expressed. Coming from a large family of eight, with him being the third child, he felt a natural inclination to lead by example and strive for excellence.
Clement’s father, a musician named Sontoja, served as his greatest inspiration to venture into the music industry. Sontoja had the privilege of playing alongside renowned figures like Hugh Masekela and other legends in the entertainment world. Following in his father’s footsteps, Clement, an Afro-pop artist, blends elements of jazz and high-tempo vibes into his music.
The core of Clement’s musical content revolves around capturing the everyday life experiences of his fellow residents, infusing joy and positivity into their hearts through his melodies. One of his notable releases, “Beautiful Mistakes,” which came out last year, inspired the community to strive for constant improvement in their lives.
In addition to his performances and collaborations with influential artists like Mr. Brown, luka012, and Jay Claude, Clement has taken a step further in contributing to his community. He established the Joyful Kiddies Academy three years ago amidst the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. This daycare academy caters to families who cannot afford traditional school fees, providing a nurturing and prestigious learning environment for their children.
“Our academy serves the Pretoria North community, and with the grace of God, we have been successfully running for the past three years. Our dedicated staff members are committed to developing young minds,” Clement shared proudly.
Currently, Clement is organizing a music camp for underprivileged youth who lack the financial means to cover studio fees for recording. By creating this opportunity, he hopes to unlock their potential and offer them a chance to showcase their talent.
“I am currently planning my upcoming project, titled ‘African Vibes.’ This album incorporates melodies from our past generations, infusing them with a fresh perspective. Expect to hear captivating tracks like ‘Sanamarena’ and ‘Giyani.’ I aim to release the project on June 8,” Clement eagerly revealed.
Through his music and community initiatives, Clement Magongwe, or Jordan Lax, continues to inspire and uplift the spirits of those around him. His unwavering dedication to empowering the youth and spreading love and hope serves as a beacon of light in Atteridgeville and beyond.
