Huge Fire at Sun Gardens Hospice they Seeking Donations
Sun Gardens Hospice in Lynnwood, Pretoria, is calling for donations following a fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon, July 16. The cause of the fire, which started in one of the hospice’s containers, remains unknown.
Thanks to the swift response of the Tshwane fire department, the blaze was quickly contained, preventing any injuries. Lindsay Mnguni, Acting Spokesperson for the Tshwane Emergency Department, reported that the incident occurred around 15:20, and two fire trucks along with a safety officer were dispatched to the scene.
Sun Gardens Hospice Operational and Seeking Donations After Fire
“Their prompt action was crucial in controlling the fire and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the hospice,” Mnguni stated.
Though the fire’s origin remains under investigation, the situation has been stabilized. Pieter van Heerden from Sun Gardens Hospice confirmed that the facilities remain operational, as the fire did not cause extensive damage.
“Our facilities are still running, and we appreciate every support we receive from residents,” said Van Heerden.
The hospice continues to welcome donations of household goods, furniture, clothing, books, electrical ware, craft and hobby materials, as well as linen and toys. However, medicines and harmful substances are not accepted.
“Residents are allowed to bring any kind of donations and we would gladly accept them,” Van Heerden emphasized.
