Economic Development
Various interventions by the City of Tshwane’s Economic Development Department have ensured that Tshwane has a viable, sustainable economy that can improve the quality of life of its communities through the development of a competitive and sustainable economic sector that is characterised by growth and the creation of employment opportunities for all, which allows the City to compete in the global economic arena.
This department aims to ensure accelerated and shared economic growth and broad participation by all.
Political leadership
Councillor Subesh Pillay currently serves as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Economic Development and Planning in the City of Tshwane.
Councillor Aaron Maluleka currently serves as Chairperson of the Oversight Committee: Economic Development and Spatial Planning in the City of Tshwane.

Ms Lindiwe Kwele, Deputy City Manager: Strategy Development and Implementation, heads the Strategy Development and Implementation Cluster responsible for the Economic Development Department
