Akasia CPF to to Strengthen Community with New Recruits
The Akasia Community Policing Forum (CPF) is ramping up its efforts to enhance community safety by rigorously vetting new recruits.
The vetting process, scheduled for March 8, 18, and 22 from 09:00 to 14:00, will cover several northern Pretoria neighborhoods including Heatherdale, Clarina, Eldorette, Amandasig, Chantelle, Karenpark, and The Orchards.
Key elements of the vetting include comprehensive background checks to ensure candidates have no serious criminal records, in-depth interviews to confirm alignment with CPF values, and thorough verification of references.
According to CPF spokesperson Lerato Makwe, this meticulous approach is crucial for maintaining the forum’s integrity and building residents’ trust in their community safety operations.
For those who do not pass—or choose not to undergo—the vetting process, there are still plenty of ways to contribute to local security.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities, organize community events, and participate in neighborhood watches and safety workshops. Makwe also acknowledged the significant role local businesses have played in streamlining the process and bolstering overall community safety.
