The Sunfoil Series – South Africa vs Pakistan
South Africa played Pakistan in the third and final test starting at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Friday the 22nd of February 2012.
Centurion has been a South African fortress, with the home side winning 13 out of 17 Tests at the ground. The only loss was a contrived result against England in January 2000.
South Africa, who started the season in Brisbane, completed a series clean sweep when they beat Pakistan by an innings and 18 runs on the third day.
South Africa’s won not only gave South Africa their fifth consecutive home Test win but also 50 Test wins for captain Graeme Smith, who’s now the most successful Test captain in history.
Spectators enjoyed the cricket in a family picnic atmosphere at the beautiful stadium with its lush, green outfield and large patches of grass that are used as spectator stands.
The atmosphere was wonderful as usual, as cricket enthusiasts soaked up the summer sun and enjoyed some of the drinks, snacks and food available for purchase at the stadium.
Supersport Park, situated on the corner of South and West Avenue, hosted five World Cup matches in 2003 including two Super Six clashes.
