SPAR Carols by Candlelight with Jacaranda FM: Pretoria 2017
06 December 2017
By Ronel Moodie
Last night nearly 6500 generous hearts filled more than 137 boxes of toys (as an entrance fee) for numerous charities supported by Jacaranda FM.
Through fast and meticulous planning, a huge event like this, changed its venue from the soaking Loftus grounds to the NG Moreletapark. The much needed rain could not damp the festive cheer, nor did it restrict anyone from spreading the love; with Carols singing to their heart’s content, celebrating the mark of the season in full force.
From early in the afternoon the children were treated to the movie Frozen; spoiled with Spar mascots providing hands-on entertainment and free gifts. On a more serious note, people shared the gift of life, in donating blood at the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) kiosk.
Both young and old were entertained by these artists: Charlize Berg, Elvis Blue, Jo Black, Jaunita du Plessis, Karen Zoid, Joe Niemand, Rafentse and supported by the ever talented Mzanzi Youth Choir.
Interview with Jo Black, Joe Niemand, Karen Zoid and Elvis Blue:
Proceeds (R 42 748) of all songbooks and candle sales went to the Good Morning Angels and the following charities will be supported by Jacaranda FM this year:
- Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis
- Hugh’s Haven
- Child Welfare Midrand & Child Welfare Tshwane
- Hanna Charity
The event was ended by all standing up, singing together, waving both cell phone and candlelights alike. This truly contributed to the core of the event and made for a breathtaking sight of hope, peace and joy.
