Silver Oaks Crossing Race of Faith: 8 June 2013
On Saturday over a thousand runners took part in the Silver Oaks Crossing Race of Faith.
The new route winded through the scenic Silver Lakes Golf Estate as well as the Willow Acres Estate. Part of the race even went through a Game Reserve. It was a chilly winter’s morning, but runners were armed with faith and determination to finish the race. People of all shapes, sizes, ages and colours joined in the fun. Parents ran with their children and prams and two dogs joined in the race, of which one even won a medal.
Gold medals got awarded to each category winner (10km and 15km) and to the first 10 finishers in the 5.5km while silver medals were given to the next 100 athletes of the 5.5km, 10km and 15km. Everyone else received a Bronze medal. Special FAITH medals were also given to all finishers.
It was a truly magnificent way to start a Saturday morning in the crisp cool winter sunrise and to become aware of the amazing environment we find ourselves in and how fortunate we truly are.
