Jacaranda & Spar Carols By Candlelight: Loftus Pretoria
02 December 2016
By Ronel Moodie
Last night, while Santa was packing his sleigh and checking his list of who’s been nice and naughty; Pretoria families were singing to the joy of Christmas as a long-held tradition @ The Spar Jacaranda FM’s Carols by Candlelight.
The annual Carols featured proudly South African artists like: Lloyd Cele, Kurt Darren, Elvis Blue, Swing City, Charlize Berg and the Soweto Gospel Choir. The winners of the Jacaranda FM school choir competition, Waterkloof Preparatory, also made a special appearance on the evening.
Toys collected at the entrance from the visitors will be distributed among the following charities: Hanna, Child Welfare and Tshwane Heartbeat. From here it will surely bring a smile to the faces of many unprivileged children this Christmas.
Jacaranda FM’s general manager, Kevin Fine said, “With our annual Carols by Candlelight event, we hope to spread some festive cheer not only to our loyal listeners but to those less fortunate too. Last year we were able to collect over 25 000 toys for children who wouldn’t have otherwise received a Christmas present. We hope to collect a lot more this year through our listeners’ generosity”
Spar went all out by treating the visitors, especially the children, to a free playground, face-painting and so much more. While the children enjoyed themselves, the early visitors were treated with a free movie, colourful circus performers, Santa himself and even a fairy princess to make your Christmas dreams come true!
Lloyd Cele called upon all who could’t make last nights Carols by Candlelight in Pretoria, to join them again at 7 pm tomorrow 3 December 2016, at The Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
