Santa’s got a new sleigh! Unprivileged children across South Africa will once again receive a gift this Christmas, due to the generous support of more than 4 thousand bikers that took part in the annual Pretoria charity Toy Run, this past Sunday.
The bikers all assembled at the Kolonnade Retail Park from where they rode, in mass-ride format, to Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort where the main event took place. They were dressed and decorated, man and beast, for this special event and the date was circled with a red marker – on every biker’s, patch or non patch, calendar. Hosted by local motorcycle clubs and other organisations, the Toy Run is the largest motorcycling event in South Africa and arguably the world.
Smiley Joubert, chairman of the Pretoria Bikers Council, said that the Toy Run are also being held across South Africa in different towns but all simultaneously. He also mentioned that 20 and more different charities will benefit from the Pretoria Run alone.
This year the bikers were also asked to donate, together with the expected soft toy which normally gets distributed between shelters and hospitals; some needed stationery and toiletries for the many orphanages, now also added to the charity list.
Well done to all the bikers, the Pretoria Biking Council and organizers for making a difference to many young lives this Christmas, by spreading the message of hope!
