Reactivation Arts Festival
The Capital Arts Revolution (C.A.R) is an Arts movement based in the capital city of Tshwane. This movement was formed, in 2008, by a group of Pretoria-based artists with the intention of having Art accessible to all kinds of people.
Having hosted a number of events and workshops since inception, C.A.R’s objective has been, and continues to achieve through passionate, determination and a clear focus on their goal of an artistic revival of the capital city.
C.A.R can pride themselves as a collective of artists who have decided to take a stand and positively contribute to the community and the artists. They are a collective of Artists from all corners of the country, the continent and the world who currently resides and work in the Capital City Tshwane.
The collective consists of: Musicians, Poets, Fashion Designers, Writers and Visual Artists (inclusive of Film Makers, Fine Artists, Photographers, Graphic Designers, and Set Designers). O Their events and workshops are always hosted in different locations in and outside Tshwane (urban, townships and rural/villages, nationally
and internationally).
The events embrace collaborations, putting together different art forms in one
space and showcasing, educating and entertaining the masses at large. These events are attended at no or low cost without compromising our artistic or organizational standard so that every curious being can appreciate and have access to the Arts.

Capital Arts Revolution
Recapitoli is a program aimed at re-opening the Capitol Theatre which was initiated by Capital Arts Revolution on November 2013.
Built in 1931, the Capitol Theatre was one of the first atmospheric cinemas to be built in South Africa, with a total seating capacity of more than 2240
The Capitol theatre, a renaissance style theatre built at the nucleus of the Capital city of South Africa Tshwane. In this regard C.A.R and its sponsors (University of Pretoria and Prohelvetia) has devised a proposed plan of engagement that will seeks to bring the square alive through arts intervention.
The organisations will herein undertake a proposed plan of having regular events at the theatre that ought to lead to the reconstruction and refurbishment of the theatre so that it can be used for what it is meant to.
They intend to do by conducting an annual program at the theatre which will include the differentart discipline eg, Art exhibition, dance, film, fashion, music, poetry and theatre. The theme for this years Festival is (Be)longing, signifying an open invitation to all sectors of the Community to come and be a part of the festival, it also signifies that cultural activity belongs in the space that is the Abandonded and misused Capitol Theatre.
