Local French School Hosts a Successful 2nd Christmas Market
The second annual Christmas market, hosted by the local French school, brought a festive European flair to the Sunnyside campus of the Alliance Française de Pretoria Saturday 25th of November 2023
With a record attendance of 1,000 students this year, the school’s director expressed confidence in the continued enthusiasm for learning French.
Sébastien Plot, the Director of Alliance Française de Pretoria, highlighted that the market, now in its second year, serves as a platform primarily for French cuisine while also showcasing South African creations.
Emphasizing the promotion of French food, Plot mentioned the diverse stalls offering an assortment of cheeses, rolls, and other French delights. However, the market goes beyond this, actively endorsing South African craftsmanship with approximately 10 stands dedicated to showcasing local talent.
Attendees at the French Christmas Market were treated to a delightful array of offerings, including bread, books, art, and other captivating attractions.
Plot explained, “It’s not just about French cuisine; we aim to promote South African craft as well. With Christmas approaching, many expatriates will be returning home for the holidays and would love to purchase souvenirs for their loved ones. This market provides a perfect opportunity for them to find unique gifts.”
