From Cape Road, turn left in to 3rd Avenue, Newton Park. Follow the road down & find the parking lot for the trail on the left hand side.

This is not a circular trail so arrangements must be made to collect hikers at either the Settlers Park Chelmsford Avenue entrance off Target Kloof Road, or alternatively, at the main parking area just off How Avenue, Park Drive.
Description
The Lower Guinea Fowl Trail meanders along the edge of the Baakens River flood-plain, and passes through a steep-sided valley below the city suburbs for its full length. The trail offers a wide variety of fauna and flora ranging from wildflowers, trees and blue waterlillies to dassies, leguaans, tortoises and lizards. The area is also excellent for bird watching, and you will find an abundance of guinea fowl along with Giant Kingfishers, Egyptian Geese, Fork-tailed Drongos, Knysna Loeries, African Goshawks, Herons and Egrets.
