Two exclusive auctions at SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees
Investors in quality game and line bred Boran cattle will have the opportunity to purchase prime animals during the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees weekend.
The annual Kirkwood Wildsfees Game Auction will be hosted at the Mayogi Bomas on Friday, June 28, starting at 12h00, followed by the first Boran Cattlemen’s auction on the Saturday.
For the first time two black rhino bulls from SANParks will be on offer.
They are among a prize selection of purebred SANParks game as well as animals from other top breeders which will be on sale, according to auctioneer Garth Saville.
Other SANParks animals include a large number of bulls and family groups of various species such as eland, red hartebeest, kudu, mountain zebra, black wildebeest, and gemsbok.
“Other highlights are the highly anticipated buffalo bulls which will again be on offer, and both spotted and brown hyena,” says Saville.
Various bulls and breeding animals will also be on offer from Casper de Klerk Wildvangs and guest sellers.
Selected animals will be available for viewing at the Mayogi bomas from 3pm on Thursday 27 June and on sale day 28 June.
On Saturday 29, the Izebo Boran Cattlemen’s Auction will be held alongside the festival grounds from 11h00 in the morning, with viewing from 8h00.
The auction animals will all be on site for evaluation.
It is being organised by local farmer Riaan van Rensburg.
Boran cattle have been farmed in Africa for over 1 300 years, and are well suited to all types of Eastern Cape grazing, according to van Rensburg.
Izebo Boran line bred genetics originate from embryos imported from Zambia.
“Izebo Boran offers fresh unmatched genetics at the sale, with up to 75 years of line-bred animals,” he says.
