Perridgevale suspects arrested
Two suspects have been arrested after allegedly stealing a TV and a watch from an address in Southey Street, Perridgevale recently.
“A resident in the area contacted the Community Information Centre (CIC) to report a theft from an address in Perridgevale. The CIC is managed and staffed by Fidelity and acts as a coordinating contact point between local law enforcement, security companies and the public,” says Ryan Britz, Port Elizabeth branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
CIC monitoring agent Senobia van Rensburg immediately contacted the Fidelity ADT armed response team as well as other local authorities and Neighbourhood Watches after she received the call from the concerned resident. The agent managed to keep track of the culprits and telephonically guided Armed Response Officer (ARO) Bevan Carelse to the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects. ARO Carelse managed to track down and apprehend the two suspects following the detailed guidance he received. Police took the suspects into custody.
“The CIC has again proven its worth with this incident. Residents have shown tremendous confidence in the CIC which has now been up and running for two years. It is an initiative we are extremely proud of, and it delights our team to see the positive results that has come since its implementation,” says Britz.
“We are delighted by the arrest made by ARO Carelse and would like to congratulate all involved. It is only through a collective effort that we are able to take back our streets in the fight against crime.”
