Local PE businessman locked in cell
PORT ELIZABETH – Local businessman and animal activist, Neil Barker (30) has been locked in a mock prison cell since Wednesday evening at The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World raising funds for various animal shelters around the city and creating awareness of Nelson Mandela’s plight of 27 years imprisonment and the 67 years he so selflessly dedicated to campaigning for unity, freedom and justice amongst others. Neil will remain in the cell until Saturday afternoon completing 67 hours of being exposed to extremely low temperatures and very little sleep.
Barker’s challenge will also be registered as a new world record with various organisations including Guinness Book of World Records.
In his first 12 hours, Barker managed to raise R12 000. The public participation has been outstanding with members of the public joining Barker in the cell having to raise their own bail money.
To follow Neil Barker’s progress, a 24 hour webcam has been installed in his cell and be viewed by clicking on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV8tBzxHWnQ&feature=iv&src_vid=3i9e4_KKFVw&annotation_id=55852148-0000-299f-9f87-001a11482fa4
