aQuellé spreads water joy across SA
(Port Elizabeth) – Appreciating and celebrating water amid an ongoing drought crippling large parts of South Africa is something a leading bottled water brand, aQuellé, is aiming to achieve with its #SpreadTheJoySA summer campaign.
The #SpreadTheJoySA tour, which features the brand’s new Limited Edition Collection of flavoured drinks, sees fruity characters Granadilla, Watermelon and Apple taking to the streets of Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
This weekend the tour hit Port Elizabeth, where the characters visited the Eastern Province Child and Youth Care Centre and also helped weary shoppers push their trolleys through Baywest Mall on Saturday. On Sunday, the characters hit the beach where they participated in the popular aQuellé Ocean Racing Series.
aQuellé marketing manager Suzelle Stegen said the aim of the tour was to bring the flavours, quite literally, to life and that the public would be able to vote for their favourite flavour, which would join the existing aQuellé variants.
“We wanted to create a campaign that allowed us to really live our brand message. #SpreadTheJoySA is fun and exciting. It’s a great way to spread joy to all South Africans,” she said.
The campaign kicked off in Durban in December, where Granadilla became the first giant fruit to take the leap with the Big Rush Big Swing from the roof of the Moses Mabhida Stadium. On a green note, Watermelon visited uShaka Marine World to promote recycling and hand out over 2,000 bottles of water, while Apple helped the Childhood Cancer Foundation to raise funds by wrapping gifts at La Lucia Mall.
The second stop on their roadtrip was Johannesburg, where the characters quenched the thirst of the firefighters of Station 15, who face blazing heat and put their lives on the line daily. They then took a walk on the wild side, giving water to staff and visitors at the Johannesburg Zoo, before bouncing off to end their day at Rush Trampoline Park, where Watermelon helped visitors to jump for joy before Apple and Granadilla got in on the fun.
The national tour wraps up in Cape Town this coming weekend with ice lollies on Camps Bay beach and trips to the big wheel at the V&A Waterfront and the Hout Bay Market.
