5 Things to consider about your Bridle and Bit
Do you ever feel like you’re not on the level to compete or enter a show? Do you think that you as rider are not ready, or perhaps your horse, but it’s actually just little things which don’t make you feel show ready?
Here are 5 things to consider about your Bridle and Bit:
Show Jumping:
In show jumping you’re allowed any bridle and bit. You’re also allowed to have a martingale and any set of reins. The judge will never comment on your tack unless it hurts the horse.
Dressage:
In dressage you’re only allowed to use a snaffle bit or in, more advanced levels, a double bridle with double reins. No martingale or rein stoppers are allowed
Showing:
A snaffle bit, Pelham or double bit is allowed. Rein stoppers, flash or martingale are not allowed. A bridle with white padding is also not allowed, only black or brown leather.
Showing (Working classes):
The new showing rules allow you to use jumping tack in these classes.
Equitation:
In equitation you’re allowed to use jumping tack so any bit or bridle. Remember it’s about the rider so make it look as easy as possible and use a soft bit and neat bridle.
