SACRAMENTO RESTAURANT

An icon of Port Elizabeth and surrounds, Sacramento Restaurant can be found in the quaint seaside village of Schoenmakerskop – along the rocky Nelson Mandela Bay (and more specifically Port Elizabeth) coastline.

Schoenmakerskop is the wreck site of the Portuguese Galleon, Sacramento, which went down in 1647. Several bronze cannons were salvaged from the wreck in 1977, including the one on display in the village. The rocky beach forms part of the Sardinia Bay Sea Reserve, so you are guaranteed to get in touch with nature and its beauty here!

The view over the Indian Ocean from the restaurant’s deck is breath taking, and offers patrons a wonderful opportunity to watch the seasonal migration of the Southern Right Whales, as well as local dolphins as they frolic in the waves.

The menu is mixed, offering a variety of freshly made, mouth-watering dishes – from scrumptious seafood to juicy steak, and everything in between. The puddings and cakes are ‘to-die-for’, so if you just want an afternoon tea or coffee with something sweet, then this is your spot. Visit the Blue Strawberry Tab on this listing to find out more.

In winter, a roaring log fire creates a cosy, relaxed ambiance, and the view outside only adds to the whole experience.

You can also just pop in for an ice cream or ice-cold beverage as you come off the beach, or from your hike along the world famous Sacramento Trail.

Sacramento Restaurant can also be hired for that special function or event, so keep them in mind when you next are looking for a warm and friendly venue with great food!
