Earlier this year Glendore Sand & Stone established a garden to give back to the community and environment. Today that goal became a reality, although it realistically took more than 67 minutes to achieve! In May 2018 the garden was established and the staff at Glendore put a whole lot of TLC into looking after the 14 000 bean, beetroot, carrot, onion and spinach seedlings and seeds that were planted.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s Centenary year Glendore donated 189 bunches of spinach to the local community school on Sardinia Bay Road. It was a rather emotional experience, to witness so much happiness from all the learners when they were gifted with a simple bunch of spinach.

Glendore Sand & Stone are delighted that they were able to feed local people fresh organic produce and make a difference in their community!

Coenrad Barnard, Director at Glendore Sand & Stone identified the local school as one that needed outside assistance in various aspects.  The little school functions on a very small budget and experiences a variety of challenges as a result. He was able to garner help from local businesses, to assist with their toilet facilities, which weren’t working properly, creating an unsanitary environment for the learners. Currie Plumbers serviced and replaced cisterns in the bathrooms that Plumblink donated, and the septic tank was also emptied. This will continue to be a project for Glendore Sand & Stone, as they work on other improvements envisioned for the school.
