Uitenhage suspect bust
March 2018
The police have taken a suspect into custody after he allegedly tried to remove roof tiles from a house in Uitenhage, in an attempt to gain access to the property.
Fidelity ADT armed response officer Adrian Adams was deployed to investigate an alarm activation in Caledon Street recently. The owner of the property wasn’t at home at the time when the officer arrived at the address in question.
“Our officer called for backup before he continued with his perimeter inspection. It was at this point that he noticed two suspects fleeing from the back of the property,” says Ryan Britz, Port Elizabeth branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
One of the suspects was apprehended before he could get away.
“It was later found that the suspects climbed on the roof in an attempt to remove the roof plates to gain access into the premises. This is a trend that we see all too often and residents are encouraged to update their security systems to prevent these break-ins from occurring, by considering the installation of beams as part of their security system,” says Britz,
The suspect was handed over into police custody, on a charge of attempted house breaking.
