Aston Neighbourhood Watch receives welcome boost
A neighbourhood watch outside Jeffrey’s Bay has received a welcome boost in the fight against crime. The Aston Bay Neighbourhood Watch received reflective bibs to increase the visibility of members whilst they are conducting security patrols.
The donation was made by Fidelity ADT. The company’s branch manager in Port Elizabeth, Ryan Britz, says it is part of their drive to support local security projects across the country.
“Private security companies need as much support from the community as possible. We realize the importance of supporting and equipping entities such as the Ashton Bay NHW in order for them to play their part in keeping our communities safe.
“The additional resources provided by the NHW in terms of “eyes and ears” on the ground is extremely valuable and greatly assists us in keeping residents safe,” says Britz.
The donation follows a meeting between Fidelity ADT’s Community Development Manager for the region Ian Dangers and NHW representatives Ben Jonker and Christie De Klerk. The bibs were already handed over, and are currently being used by the NHW.
“We were delighted to be able to assist the team in Aston Bay. Visibility is key, as it helps keep these patrollers safe and make them stand out while they are on duty. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Aston Bay NHW, and believe that the relationship will make a positive difference in the community,” says Britz.
