Robberg Hiking Trail and Walking Trail

Robberg Hiking TrailRobberg Hiking Trail and Walking Trail is rated as one of the top hikes in South Africa. This circular route around the Robberg peninsula in Plettenberg Bay will treated you to panoramic views over the bay and the Tsitsikamma mountains.

You’ll pass the Cape Fur Seal colony en route to the halfway point, and upon return, you’ll cross over to a tambola island with pristine sandy beaches perfect for swimming – a great spot to relax. The island hosts a Cape Gull colony and between May and November, look out for the Southern Right and Humpback whales that will breach and lobtail on both sides of the peninsula.

The hike offers a shorter 2.2km route (easy), a 5.6km route (moderate) or the longer 9.2km route which is more difficult and takes 3-5 hours.

Over 100 species of birds, including the Black Oystercatcher and the Orange Breasted Sunbird have been recorded.

Dassies, seals, whales and dolphins are common sightings, but you may be lucky enough to see other wildlife, including grysbok, duiker, bushbuck, Cape clawless otters and mongooses.

A camera is a must for this hike!
