The BI Hotel and other accommodation in Plettenberg Bay

From R70 000 a night Country Estates to R140 a night camping facilities for students, Plettenberg Bay is geared toward a huge diversity of visitors from all walks of life who have one thing in common – a love of natural beauty, the outdoors, whales, dolphins, a clean ocean and amazing beaches. In other words – everyone.

Accommodation to suit all requirements, all budgets and all tastes…

Holiday Rentals: It was once a well-known fact that you had to book your December holiday house in September, or you wouldn’t find accommodation in Plett over the Festive season. Rental tenants would have to pack up their stuff and move into a friend’s lounge, and local home-owners would pack up the family and rent out the house for a tidy fee. However, Plett’s rapid growth over the past 15 years and changes in the tourism demographics has made accommodation easier to find, more affordable, more varied and in many cases more luxurious and better as competition for guests hots up and more and more International visitors grace our shores.

Hotels: Plettenberg Bay is one of only two South African destinations featuring Chateau & Relais Hotels as well as a number of other 5 star boutique hotels and luxury guesthouses. Then of course there is the iconic Beacon Island Hotel perched on the outcrop between Central and Robberg beaches – the focus of a million Plett postcard runs.

Plettenberg Bay offers accommodation with sea views, mountains and forest views - and often both!

Guest Houses to Beach-Front Holiday Houses in an International Holiday Destination:   Plettenberg Bay’s popularity as an International holiday destination has resulted in an high quality variety of guest houses, bed and breakfast establishments and self-catering accommodation, holiday home and apartment rentals, villas and beach rentals, as well as a range of family holiday rentals from beach-front houses to ‘5 minutes walk from the beach’ houses – to semi rural self-catering cottages. Large houses in Plettenberg Bay, particularly in the beautiful and secluded slice of heaven called Nature’s Valley, can be rented out of season for a song, but even in season, a 10 bedroom house is easily affordable when the cost is split.

Large Houses can be rented ‘Out of Season’ for a song…

Student accommodation: Then there are still camping facilities, chalets and caravan parks as well as inexpensive backpackers for the thousands of students who flock to Plett at the end of November for Plett Rage and those looking for nature over out-right luxury.

Glamping: Also known as luxury camping or glamorous camping, has become increasingly popular.
For the wealthy wanderers who don’t want to give up all the creature comforts of home. It’s a moment by yourself in a secluded treehouse.

Plett & Knysna – ‘Sister Towns’ on the Garden Route:  Many choose to stay in Plettenberg Bay as a base from which to visit Knynsa and the Tsitsikamma areas. This is most apparent during the Festival periods in Knysna in April (the Pink Loerie Festival) and then again in early July (the Knysna Oyster Festival). The two towns are very close so one can drive between Plett and Knysna in 20 minutes. Plettenberg Bay offers a peaceful refuge from the traffic and activity in Knysna and many activities of the surrounding area are closer to Plett, including the animal sanctuaries in the Crags, the bungee jumping, forest canopy tours and of course the whale watching between July and November.
