Bitou Municipality approves Baboon Monitoring Program
Baboon Monitoring Program update from the desk of the joint operation – Bitou Municipality, Cape Nature and Natures Valley Trust.
The Municipality thanks the members of the public for their continued patience and understanding in these difficult times, especially in dealing with such a complex issue.
All homeowners are encouraged to continually implement the measures detailed in the information pamphlet to ensure that their properties remain unattractive to raiding baboons.
The Municipality has approved a Baboon Monitoring Program and has budgeted for the appointment of five dedicated Baboon Monitors through the Expanded Public Works Programme.
The workers will be appointed during July and will begin training early August, should everything remain on schedule. Three of the monitors will be stationed in Plettenberg Bay and two in Nature’s Valley.
The training of the three WESSA Stewards’ has therefore been postponed, as it will be combined with the five Municipal monitors to make the best use of available resources.
