True Valentines Day – DAAC
Over time Valentine’s has been a special day set aside for couples who are reminded of their romantic attachments to each other.
“I found out the true meaning of Valentine’s Day when my husband invited me to one of our favourite restaurants to celebrate our longstanding love,” explains Rita Hardaker, founder of the Differently-Abled Awareness Campaign.
“The musician played all the right tunes, the setting was grand, the food outstanding and we most certainly enjoyed all the special attention bestowed upon us on this, our very special day.
“It was, however, with mixed emotions that I watched the undying devotion of two men, obviously brothers, as they showered love upon their mother, who was the lady of the day to them. She was a tiny, brittle-looking lady, who had great difficulty getting out of her chair and walking. However, they treated her as if she was, to them, the biggest love of their lives.
“How loved and very special she must have felt being the only guest on this Valentine’s Day. Truly a gift of unselfish love from her sons for a lady who was very much the most important person in their lives since their creation.
“To all the Differently-Abled ladies out there, remember you are still number one in the lives of the men in your lives each and every day, not just Valentine’s Day.”
