Performing Artist Training Programme Launched
Tshisa Talent and Lunchbox Theatre launched their Performing Artist Training Programme on Saturday 19th January. Offering performing artists the chance to develop their talent and learn vital business and marketing skills, these workshops aim to empower our local artist to become professional performers.
12 participants from Kwanokuthula, Kranshoek, New Horizons and Qolweni attended Saturday’s workshops. These artists were drawn from those who had registered for training at the Open Mic sessions that we have hosted in each community since September 2012.
Stuart Palmer, Mncedisi Ncedani and Ricky Luiters ran the workshop and concentrated on covering the following subject matter: Marketing, generating income, businesses and financial management, and professional conduct.
Our next workshop takes place on 26th January and will see the artists sharing information on performance, stage technique, stagecraft and repertoire.
Our final workshop in this series will bring the artists together on 9th Feb to collaborate with each other, expand their boundaries, learn from each other and work together to broaden their abilities.
Thanks to St. Peter’s Anglican Church for providing such a wonderful venue for these talented local performers.
These training programmes have been made possible by the generous support of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.
