GBC call for Gift of the Givers Foundation support

Over the past week, we have watched an unimaginable crisis unfold in our beautiful country on top of the already devastating impact of Covid19.

This latest crisis is complex and multifaceted, caused by a perfect storm of events but clearly leveraged by criminal elements driving illegal and reckless behaviour to cause unrest, destruction, anguish, and fear resulting in devastating consequences for our country and its people.

As the dust around us begins to settle and we take stock of the mammoth task to rebuild what has been torn down, we realise that we still have much to be thankful for.

We are thankful that most of our staff, parents, and direct school communities have not been as impacted as many others, but believe that we have a collective responsibility in providing assistance to communities that were directly affected. This will be a long journey of recovery and will critically require the support of society as a whole.

Greenwood Bay College and its sister schools (Elkanah House, Glenwood House, and Trinityhouse) have reached out directly to the Gift of the Givers Foundation and will be making an initial donation of R100 000 to the relief efforts. We appeal to you to join us in this initiative. The Gift of the Givers is a credible, trusted, and well-known organisation that is well-placed to assist in relief efforts in a responsible manner to those most in need.
