Celebrating Bitou’s hottest talents
The last Tshisa Talent Open Mic session for 2012 took place at Kranshoek on Wednesday, December 12, alongside a celebration of the Bitou Talent Showcase and the brand-new Tshisa Talent DVD debut.
Tshisa Talent discovers, empowers and promotes performing artists. Tshisa is an isiXhosa word meaning ‘hot’. Providing the entertainment at the event were performers who rank amongst Bitou’s finest having excelled during the Tshisa Talent selection process, including Louisa Harker, Masiqine and Andre the Beatboxer and others.
“The Bitou Talent Showcase was an exciting step forward for our talented local performers.
“The evening was made possible through a collaboration between Tshisa Talent, Lunchbox Theatre, the National Arts Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the Department of Social Development and the Bitou Municipality. It is very encouraging for our artists to know that these great organisations have a vested interest in their dreams and goals.
“Tshisa Talent 2013 promises to be a bigger and better showcase of our local talent. We hope to expand into the other Eden District communities to discover, develop and promote local emerging talent,” said Stuart Palmer, chairperson of Lunchbox Theatre and initiator of Tshisa Talent.
