A Differently-Abled Awareness surprise for Calvin
Rita and Mike Hadarker surprised Calvin Nqunqutha from Qolweni with a gift given in gratitude for all the hard work he does for the Differently-Abled Awareness Campaign.
Two sewing machines were donated to the Differently-Abled Awareness Campaign by Mrs Petro Beukes from George.
The one machine was at least 70 years old and under inspection was declared good for spare parts.
The second machine was an older electric machine, but once serviced it was presented to Calvin on the 11th of December 2018 together with the first one for parts.
Rita spent a little time with Calvin explaining the important points for the necessary maintenance of the machine and since he has had sewing experience on an electric machine before, so she knew he would be capable of tackling this one.
“It was an unexpected gift for Calvin and he was quite overjoyed – hugs all round! Now he can finish off the items that he has been sewing so selflessly and neatly for us, as his overlocker was out of service,” says Rita. “Good luck Calvin, enjoy and keep up the good deeds and a BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Petro Beukes for the two machines!”
The sewing machines were handed over with the understanding that Calvin would teach others in his community and continue to assist with various sewing projects for the DIFFERENTLY-ABLED AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.
