Bitou launches I-Recycle Programme
The Bitou municipality waste management department and the environmental management department have kicked off a recycling education and awareness programme called I-RECYCLE.
I-RECYCLE is an ongoing educational tour to all Schools, creches, social clubs, churches, and safe houses in Bitou.
The goal is to take recycling to young learners. It is very important that they learn the importance of waste minimisation.
REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE
The sessions include :
● Educational materials
● Questionnaires and puzzles
● Recycling fun games
● Community Recyclables collecting events and competitions
● Eco- brick collecting
● Educational tours
We have started establishing Eco- recycling school clubs. The clubs are a hub for encouraging the kids to care, protect and preserve the environment. Kids are encouraged to start learning to separate waste from the source as a way of reducing waste that goes to the transfer station.
Teaching school kids to start recycling trash is important during the time where the world is faced with the challenge of fewer or no landfill land globally. Our town is also faced with the challenge of many illegal dumping sites that are toxic and poisonous also dangerous to our health during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The I-RECYCLE PROGRAMME is an ongoing educational tour. At the moment our schedule changes from time to time because of the new Covid-19 restrictions and regulations.
078 183 6443 / 071 067 2010 are numbers you can contact beginning of every week to see how our schedule looks like and where you can join us.
I-RECYCLE…DO YOU?
