Tsokwane Retirement Resort Launches
Invited guests, dignitaries and shareholders attended the launch of Tsokwane Resort, Plettenberg Bay on Friday 14th December.
Says Mayor Memory Booysen, “There is a great need in Plettenberg Bay for further options for its senior inhabitants and in addition, over the next four years, this development will provide much needed employment opportunities for residents of the greater Bitou region”.
Designed by Cape Town architect Quentin Miller, this eco-friendly estate has been designed to cater for all the requirements that residents of such a facility require. The resort will have a wellness centre with assisted living suites and twenty four hour assistance for all residents, excellent security, a club house and recreational facilities plus a community centre with a bistro, pub, administration offices, bridge room, library and salon.
Great thought has gone into the design and all units can be adapted for wheelchairs, have panic buttons which alert both security and staff in the wellness centre and aesthetically are contemporary yet classical in design. Says Miller “there was great enthusiasm for the design, in particular the double volume areas, the layout and finishes from all those attending.”
Located in Keurbooms, at the site of the old Keurbooms Hotel (formerly the Frederick Hotel) the architect has ensured that the design of the resort compliments its rural setting, has created green belts between the buildings and allowed for generous exclusive areas for each dwelling. Alien vegetation is currently being removed from the wetland which will be replanted with indigenous varieties.
Perhaps the most appealing aspect of the resort is that ownership of residential units will form part of sectional title scheme giving each resident title to their unit plus a proportional share of common area. With the units ranging in size from 79m² to 211m², and with a choice of five different design layouts, there is something for everyone at Tsokwane. There will be assisted living units which will be offered with wellness.
Phase 1, comprising 66 units, is currently being marketed with the intention of ground being broken in the second quarter of 2013 and occupation taking place in the last quarter or early 2014.
Says Pycroft, General Manager of the Resort, “the interest and demand in this development has exceeded our expectations. We have been left with no doubt that the model of this resort has proved extremely attractive to potential owners”.
