Waldorf education celebrates 100 years
Students from Raphaeli Waldorf School in Plettenberg Bay participated in an official ‘lighting of the torch’ celebration in honour of 100 years of Waldorf Education.
This torch will be travelling to every Waldorf school in South Africa… having arrived at Raphaeli on the 24th of April while on its way to the Eastern Cape.
Class 7 students Lila Livni and Shammah Mfecane had the honour of lighting the torch on Raphaeli’s behalf.

What is Waldorf education
Waldorf education is one of the largest and fastest growing educational movements in the world. Austrian scientist and philosopher Rudolph Steiner founded the first Waldorf school in Europe in 1919.
There are currently more than 1100 Waldorf Schools and almost 2000 Waldorf preschools. Waldorf education works all across the world, and this year we celebrate 100 years! ? Be part of the global movement, the first 100 years was just the beginning.
