Plett Gymnast Leolin Petersen Takes a Stride Forward Towards the 2024 Olympic Dream
Stepping onto the grand stage of a prestigious international competition, Leolin Petersen’s gymnastic journey is illuminated by an even brighter spotlight. Not only has she secured her place to represent South Africa at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) world championships in the United Kingdom within her age group, but she’s also earned a coveted spot on the country’s senior team for the very first time.
Hailing from the halls of Plettenberg Bay Primary School and currently pursuing her education at Framesby High School in Gqeberha, Leolin’s dedication and prowess have propelled her to the forefront of her discipline. Her remarkable talents have led to her selection to compete on the senior team for double-mini trampoline at the forthcoming FIG Trampoline World Championships in Birmingham, England, set to grace the stage from November 9th to 12th.

Furthermore, Leolin’s exceptional journey has paved her way to the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group competition, which will also unfold on English soil, from November 16th to 19th. This time, she’ll be competing in the 17 to 21 years category for the trampoline discipline. Amongst a cohort of talented gymnasts, Leolin stands out as one of the eight representatives from Mandy’s School of Tumbling and Trampoline. Their remarkable achievements have been nurtured under the watchful guidance of esteemed gymnastics coaches Mandy Zoonekynd and Lee Budler, showcasing the dedication and expertise that have propelled them to these global championships.
