Knysna and Plettenberg Bay’s Rising Rugby Stars
Four promising rugby talents hailing from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay are set to shine on the field as they join the SWD U21 squad in the upcoming SA Rugby U21 Shield campaign, commencing this week.
Handpicked by SWD Rugby, the squad consists of 36 of the most outstanding young rugby prospects from the South Western Districts region. These dedicated individuals will proudly represent their union in this year’s highly anticipated SA Rugby U21 Shield, scheduled to run from the 11th of August to the 14th of October.
SWD stands strong as one of the four prominent southern unions participating in this esteemed competition, standing alongside fellow contenders such as Boland, Border, and Eastern Province.
The four young men from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay who’ve been selected for the squad are Gift Ngxwashula (who plays for Jaguars), Joseph Vermaak, Len Mells and Emile Goedhals (all of who play for Bitou Warriors).
As the tournament unfolds, these formidable teams will fiercely compete for supremacy, with the top two advancing to the gripping semi-final stage. There, they will lock horns with the two northern teams, potentially consisting of formidable opponents like Griquas, Valke, Griffons, or Limpopo Blue Bulls. This exciting clash promises a riveting display of skill, strategy, and determination as these rising rugby stars battle for victory on the grand stage.
