Have an adventure!
If adventure in the outdoors is your cup of tea, the Garden Route is the right place to be.
Eden Adventures, a local company will help you spice up your holiday with a variety of activities that they have on offer in the beautiful surroundings.
Canoes can be rented out from their head office at the Ebb and Flow Campsite in the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park.
The most popular canoeing route is roughly a three hour round trip through the indigenous forest, where bird life is abundant all along the river. By getting out of the canoe and walking a little way up river, ideal picnic spots can be found among the many rock pools.
There is also an alternative Eden Adventures satellite office at Kaaimans River, where you can paddle into the gorge to see the magnificent Swart River waterfall. At this waterfall there is also a stunning 45 metre abseiling site where you can slide down the rope within arm’s reach of the falls and land in a boat at the bottom.
Even first-time abseilers can attempt this challenge. Also on offer with Eden Adventures – especially on hot summer’s days – is kloofing down the Kaaimans River. This easy kloof, called Cappuccino Canyon, is great for beginners and experienced kloofers alike. The canyon itself is extremely beautiful and the jumps are all optional, but there is ample opportunity for experienced kloofers to do some high jumps.
