Great win for Knysna fighter
Jean Charl du Plessis of the TapOut Academy Knysna (TOAK) attended the Imagine Fighting Championships in the Board Walk Casino, Port Elizabeth on Saturday, June 15.
He participated in the featherweight division (64kg) and attained a magnificent win via Ground and Pound.
Du Plessis prepared for two months for the fight. His training consisted of cardio, endurance, core training, as well as strength and conditioning.
TOAK thanks Robberg Quary for its support and sponsorship, as well as all those who attended.
Imagine Fighting Championships (IFC) aims to break away from the ‘cage fighting’ stereotypes and to highlight the martial arts aspect of the sport. IFC’s vision is the creation of a high level mixed martial arts event completely breaking the mould, to be held quarterly and initially based in the Eastern Cape.
They bring elite fighters from all over South Africa to compete in both amateur and professional bouts. As a South African first they would also like to bring regular international opponents for their local champions and provide a gateway for the top South African fighters internationally.
