Plettenberg Bay’s Plett Food & Film Partner, IKASI Media, recognised at the Imagine Awards
iKasi Media was nominated amongst other non-profit organisations working for social justice, poverty alleviation and youth development for an award at the Imagine Awards ceremony, hosted at the Artscape Theatre, on the 30th of November 2018.
The nomination was for the Rural Development in Media category, and they were also recognised for the training delivered to 100 youth from the Garden Route District.
“Being recognised is great, it gives us motivation to continue growing our offering. iKasi Media is now a registered PBO and our training is for free. Our target is previously disadvantaged rural youth who would otherwise not have access to opportunity in the Film TV and Digital Media industry,” says iKasi Media founder Lika Berning.
The Imagine Awards was hosted by Iqbal Surve, a businessman and philanthropist, owner of Sekunjalo Investments. The event recognises small organisations that make a difference. The awards are a validation of community building and best practice. A small cash prize is awarded and recipients have the opportunity to apply for further funding from Surve Philanthropies.
iKasi Media started as a small non-profit in Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg Bay and is now operating all over the Garden Route District. Plett Tourism and the Bitou Municipality have been generous supporters of iKasi Media, and have been instrumental in providing further training opportunities in the Bitou region!
