Plettenberg Bay Industrial Park
A number of years ago four well known Plett businessmen realized that the existing industrial area would not be able to cope with increasing demands for industrial space for very much longer.
Consequently it was decided to procure suitable premises where supplementary industrial capacity could be developed. This was easier in conception than execution, as the ideal premises would have had to be large enough to be viable, prominent enough on a major road to provide investors with maximum exposure, convenient to Plett, its Airport and Knysna to be attractive and, most importantly, in a safe area close to a reliable source of skilled labour.
After much searching, consultation and negotiation, it was ultimately decided that the portion of land next to Daybreak Eggs would be ideal. This land parcel was indeed strategically perfectly positioned. It was, at almost 25 hectares, certainly large enough to be viable, fronted onto the (now newly tarred) Airport-N2 link road, only 6km to Plett, 2km to Plett Airport 25km to Knysna, (where the industrial area is bursting out of its seams) and within walking distance of the hugely underappreciated workforce of the Kranshoek community.
It is a well known scientific fact that diamonds are produced over time as a result of extreme conditions, specifically high temperatures and pressures. Through endless challenges and frustrations, some heated discussions and certainly more than enough pressure, the idea of an industrial area metamorphosed into a proverbial diamond in the form of the newly approved Industrial Park, another first for Plettenberg Bay.
Unlike an ordinary industrial area, the Plettenberg Bay Industrial Park will have perimeter security, access control, wide streets to accommodate the largest trucks, erven up to 2876sqm in extent architectural guidelines to protect investment integrity and +/- 8ha of open space which could contribute to creating a happier, healthier and therefore more productive environment for workers. Very few industrial parks in the country offer all these features and the Plettenberg Bay Industrial Park is indeed a diamond that all Plettonians can be proud of.
Throughout the planning process, and as part of the holistic approach of the developers, the community leaders of the nearby Kranshoek village have been consulted on numerous occasions and are excited about the job opportunities The Park will offer their community. Already lists of skilled people looking for employment have been compiled by them for provision to employers.
There are only 68 erven available with the most exclusive fronting onto the Airport-N2 link road and the open nature areas. This is an ideal opportunity for discerning investors to strategically position their businesess in an upmarket industrial development along a possible future development axis.
The directors of the development company are well known Plettonians Dennis Derbyshire. Johan v d Schyff, Patrick Barnard, and Rikus Truter. Dr Patrick Barnard is the owner of Patrick Barnard Properties, established 25 years ago in Plett and the holders of the exclusive mandate. He is also the Marketing Director of the development company and can be contacted at 044 533 1365 / 083 702 2912 pat@pbproperties.co.za
