Plett to screen drive in for charity
While activities on the entertainment front remain a bit lacklustre across the country as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Plettenberg Bay is set to change that by bringing back some nostalgia this week, and for a good cause too.
The town will on 15 August host what has been dubbed “Your Community Drive-in” at the Bitou Rugby Club’s field between 17:00 and 20:00. Organised by Digital Creatives and supported by the Film and Publications Board as well as Plett Tourism, the drive-in will showcase Disney’s 2019 remake of the legendary Lion King.
“We want to give back to our community by creating a fun social-distancing event that everyone can attend. To keep the love flowing, we are donating some of the proceeds from this event to our local charities,” organisers said.
Participants will need a working radio in order to tune in. The radiofrequency will be provided on arrival. Tickets at R200 per vehicle will be available at the gate.
Over and above the entertainment, local vendors will ensure taste buds are also satisfied with fruit and nut snack packs available on pre-order, and coffee and food trailers at the venue for hungry moviegoers.
Organisers said it will be fully Covid-19 compliant as per the national health regulations, but encouraged visitors to wear their masks.
