We are a bang, on time this month and it happens to be Father’s Day. Our wishes to all the Dads out there who patiently put up with our obsession to buy, feel and use Yarn! And the dad who recently came into the shop with his wife …. as she was paying for her yarn, he rolled his eyes and muttered “Hmm … More Yarn”. She turned to him in fury and with her finger in his face said: “It’s Cheaper Than Therapy”!! The look on his face was priceless … hope you got the message loud and clear, Dad!! Priceless moment!
Community Project Program:
As the weather cooled down (then heated up, then cooled down…), a number of folk have requested and collected blankets and beanies (and kid’s clothing) so lovingly made by you ladies. Here are just some of the letters and photos we have received (some haven’t sent any but they were grateful for the items they received.
The photo above sent from Seeff who collected blankets for their Winter Warmth Drive – the ladies who received them were delighted and they have been distributed into the community.
We received a lovely Thank You letter from the ladies at the Methodist Church as well (photo above)… I have scanned the letter to publish but somehow can’t upload it for you…. apologies! But managed to post their email:
“A very big thank you to the Seeff team from me for your great effort with the winter warmer campaign. The ladies at St. Thomas
Methodist church who is doing the distribution was blown away this morning by the generosity of you all and all our wonderful clients, as well as Wool & more”
Yvonne Samuels, a sister who works with newborns at the clinics, collected baby jerseys, beanies and blankets and Janet Harding who does amazing (and heartbreaking) work with Green Hearts (helping abused children through the court systems) also collected some knitted toys and blankets to provide some comfort at the court building for these children.
Enzina, your strips for blankets just keep coming in …. thank you so much and again, thanks to all who have put in so much time, effort and love into donating blankets, jerseys and beanies.
New Yarns:
Last month, we mentioned that Charity has launched some new colours in their DK range: here are some of them (remember, many of these colours will no longer be available in Elle’s Family Knit range).
Shown are Charcoal, Olive, Sunshine, Regal and Claret.
A customer’s husband really wanted some funky socks knitted using Opal sock yarn – he chose his colours and she started knitting …. when one sock was finished, she brought it in to “show and tell”…. absolutely gorgeous (he now wants a second pair …. methinks her work is cut out for her)!!
PLEASE do pop in to make us an offer on some of the yarns waiting to be cleared …. the pile just keeps growing (a new, bigger bin is already in place!).
Business For Sale:
As you know, this charming and successful business is on the market – it is profitable (thank you again for your support) and a delight. Please do put the word out there (via Social Media, etc) so that more folk are aware of the opportunity. If introduced to a buyer privately (not through an agent or business broker), we will be happy to pay a “spotters fee” for your help once the purchase is completed.
PLEASE NOTE: This gorgeous boy is not included in the sale of wool&more!! Thanks to all who greet and love him when you come into the shop – your care does not go unnoticed!!
