Winter came, Winter went …. crazy weather patterns (everywhere) are messing with yarn sales all over!! But we continue to endeavour to supply the most beautiful yarns available, the widest range and all at the best prices we can – and with a smile! Hopefully, we continue to meet these criteria!
Community Project Programs:
There are still some blankets coming in which is great – we have dug into our pile this last week, for New Horizons Clinic – they received a substantial pile of baby blankets, beanies, jerseys – and some knitted toys to help fend off the fears of the kids attending the clinic.
Another bag of blankets went to the Rape Crisis Centre locally – the counsellors and helpers do an incredible job of being the first place a rape victim goes, before the police, etc. The folk are normally in shock and thus, shivering. They will be given a hand made, brightly coloured blanket (from YOU!) and will be allowed to take the blanket, to keep. This will thus be an ongoing need (sad to say – wish it was another way but….!).
Hints and Tips:
Here is a delightful link – sort of trouble-shooting!
And whilst we discuss trouble-shooting: we are looking for some local ladies who are really good knitters who can help with orders we receive from time to time. Anyone out there?
We have also been wanting to run a workshop or two on taking our knitting to the “next level”, so to speak. Is there anyone who is very experienced and good at explaining lots of technical knitting issues (some basic and some complicated)? Please do contact us. Thanks.
Check this out….
Here is another link with a new stitch from Elle and some interesting binding off (casting off) techniques – we would love to hear how you like them, once tried, please!

New Yarns in stock:
As those of you who are wool&more FaceBook friends already know, two incredible new yarns arrived this past week:
Katia Rainbow Range: Shoo! These are 150gm (Spring Rainbow) and 200gm (Top Rainbow) balls of 50% cotton, in long varigations which come in beautiful colour ranges and with patterns for shawls in both, knitting and crochet. They are selling fast – a stunning, soft shawl for a cool Summer’s eve will be so enjoyed.
Nurturing Fibres: They have just launched their gossamer soft KidSilk range …. delicate, fine, soft … adjectives just don’t do this yarn justice!! The balls are 25gm but 210m long – to give you some idea! We have a pattern at wool&more that you could enjoy doing (using large-ish needles, given how fine the yarn is) and below, is a link to one of their patterns which may challenge you out of your comfort zone. Please do pop in to feel and see!

Crochet Corner:
The Fantasy Blanket workshops filled quickly and everyone enjoyed the day and learned lots – some have asked for a Follow-up. If anyone who attended is interested in a three hour followup, please do get in touch with us so that we can arrange it.
The Stylecraft CAL is still on – we have kits of the 16 balls of their Special DK required for this project at a very reduced price (only R890-00) – but only until Saturday 19th August. Should you wish to do the CAL at a later stage, it will, apparently, remain on the Stylecraft website for you to follow. It’s really a beautiful blanket and will last for many, many years, using this gorgeous yarn,
Fair warning:
Like last year, we will be closing for a well-earned rest from
Monday 9th October to Tuesday 24th OCTOBER, inclusive.
Life will be back to normal at wool&more from Wednesday 25th October. Will keep reminding you so that you are well stocked with yarn whilst we are closed.
Season Trading Days / Hours:
Please make a note of the following days and hours that we will be trading for the Winter season
Monday to Friday: 10-00 to 4-00 * (unless Public Holiday)
All Public Holidays *: 09-30 to 12-30
Every Saturday: 09-30 to 12-30 (until end of August at which time only first and last Saturdays will resume as trading Saturdays)
Blond men:
Not for you but for all the women out there who need a laugh: it’s Pay Back time! And appropriate as this is, after all, Woman’s Month!!!
BLOND MEN:
A blond man is in the bathroom and his wife shouts: “Did you find the shampoo?”
He answers, “Yes, but I’m not sure what to do… it’s for dry hair, and I’ve just wet mine.”
—————————— ——
A blond man spies a letter lying on his doormat.
It says on the envelope “DO NOT BEND .”
He spends the next 2 hours trying to figure out how to pick it up.
—————————— ——
A blond man shouts frantically into the phone, “My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart!”
“Is this her first child?” asks the Doctor.
“No!” he shouts, “this is her husband!”
—————————— —
A blond man is in jail, the guard looks in his cell and sees him hanging by his feet.
“Just WHAT are you doing?” he asks.
“Hanging myself,” the blond replies.
“The rope should be around your neck” says the guard.
“I tried that,” he replies, “but then I couldn’t breathe.”
—————————— ——
An Italian tourist asks a blond man: “Why do scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?”
To which the blond man replies: “If they fell forward, they’d still be in the boat.”
—————————— ——–
A friend told the blond man: “Christmas is on a Friday this year.”
The blond man then said, “Let’s hope it’s not the 13th.”
—————————— ——
Two blond men find three grenades, and they decide to take them to a police station.
One asked: “What if one explodes before we get there?”
The other says: “We’ll lie and say we only found two.”
