High hopes for Plett Rage 2020 to go ahead
Organisers hopeful for Plett Rage 2020 to go-ahead
Hello Plett Rage family; we’ve missed you! For those of you who have returned to school, we hope you had an amazing first day back. It excites us to see, that the first glimpses of normality have started to return.
As a member of our Plett Rage Family, we want you to know that two of our most valued qualities are honesty and transparency. So, while the news we share with you today is not the kind of news we want to have to share, we want to avoid fake news at all costs, therefore we will consistently update you with regards to any plans you have made with us for the end of the year.
When we set out to create the 2020 edition of Plett Rage for you, we did so with the true belief that we would be building on the well-received experience of Plett Rage 2019.
We, like you, are tired of reading about the effects and implications that “these unprecedented times” have had on our ‘normal’ life.
We are aware of an outdated draft that was published on the 14th of May, regarding possible NSC exam date changes which would have clashed with your festival experience. However, on Tuesday the 19th of May, Angie Motshekga – South African Minister of Basic Education – proclaimed that they would be doing everything in their power to ensure that the NSC exams would take place as previously planned.
With our country in Phase 3, as of today the 1st of June 2020, we have high hopes that we will be able to trade as planned. Nonetheless, we have started with innovative plans to ensure that you, the class of 2020, get to experience a Plett Rage you very well deserve.
Should the exam dates impact the original dates of Plett Rage 2020, which is currently scheduled to take place from the 27th of November to the 5th December 2020, we would be able to adjust. We have already started the engagement process with relevant Plettenberg Bay accommodation suppliers to assist with potential changes.
The Bitou Municipality, Plettenberg Bay Tourism, and the residents of the town are in total support of the hosting of Plett Rage 2020 in whatever manner or form it may look like. If and should we need to move, we will be able to facilitate a festival.
Currently, nothing has been confirmed however we are very aware of the potential for change. Should and if there be one, we will put our plan of action into place and provide an experience for you the class of 2020.
For now: Stay safe. Stay positive the storm will pass, we’ll see you on the beaches of Plettenberg Bay.
