Bitou to ensure public safety this season
Bitou Municipality’s public safety department showed that they are ready for the influx of visitors over the festive season by delivering their annual chief inspection parade on 22 November.
The demonstration was held at the Ladywood testing station and attended by various senior Bitou officials including mayor Peter Lobese.
During his speech, Lobese highlighted the important role public safety plays in the stability of the town and also encouraged law enforcement officials to remain committed to doing their jobs despite its thankless nature and the abuse they often receive from road transgressors.
Municipal manager Lonwabo Ngoqo commended law enforcement officials for the “sterling job they are doing”. “I am also pleased with the excellent work done by the fire department who dealt with the recent fire in Pinetrees on 14 November, when three houses burnt down,” Ngoqo said.
Lobese and several other councillors also awarded law enforcement officials with certificates for various training courses they recently successfully completed.
Senior public safety officials Andile Sakati and Sean Ganga declared the department ready for the upcoming festive season.
