Anti crime app now in Plett
In an effort to move away from “cumbersome” WhatsApp groups as a crime-fighting tool, and following in the footsteps of crime fighters in Cape Town, the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) over the past week launched their own Buzzer App initiative.
“Buzzer App is a community safety tool built specifically for both community and private response,” said PBCPA operations head Otto Olivier. “It has been used with fantastic success around Cape Town, and seriously reduced not only the crime rate but also the ‘noise’ of the WhatsApp groups.”
He explained that the app provides the user with a personal SOS emergency button.
“All you need to do is hold down the SOS button in the app for three seconds. The app automatically geo-locates your position and activates a response. You do not need to type anything or say anything. Within seconds our control room will contact you and our whole team of responders will be aware of the situation.”
