Annual blanket run in aid of Plett
It’s time for the Christian Motorcycle Association’s (CMA) annual Blanket Run on Sunday, May 20.
This special event aims to give blankets to the poorest in society to provide for the cold winter months ahead.
The CMA selects a different town every year in which to distribute the blankets and has in recent years provided blankets to communities in Oudtshoorn, George, Knysna and Mossel Bay.
This year Plettenberg Bay communities will receive blankets.
“It is our experience that the need for this run grows rapidly every year,” said Koos Barnard of the CMA. “Last year we managed to collect and hand out over 500 blankets. We appeal to motorcycle clubs and bikers in the Southern Cape and surrounding areas to support us. Please bring blankets and ensure that Plett’s people can sleep warm this winter. Members of the public, business and churches are also invited to participate.”
Blankets may be handed in at Bikers Church in George Industria until May 20. Transport has been arranged for the blankets. Pastor Paul Williams van be contacted on 082 565 2319 for enquiries.
Motorcyclists who want to join in the ride are requested to be at the Bikers Church in George at 09:00 when all the blankets will be loaded for transport to Plettenberg Bay.
The motorcyclists will depart at 09:30 for Plettenberg Bay.
