Airlines team up to save African species
Several international airlines have agreed to take a powerful South African documentary – and a crucial conservation message – to the skies in 2020.
British Airways, Swiss International Air Lines, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines have committed to screening the ground-breaking 2019 film, Eye of the Pangolin, on their long-haul routes.
Pangolin Africa, the South African-based non-profit organisation which co-produced the film, is also negotiating with other big carriers to include the film in their onboard screening.
The African pangolin is the most trafficked wildlife species on earth and the film, released on YouTube for free in 2019, aims to raise global awareness around the plight of this extraordinary animal.
From the co-director of Blood Lions, Eye of the Pangolin is about two men on a mission to get all four species of African pangolin on camera for the first time. It was filmed in South Africa, Ghana, Central African Republic and Gabon.
