17 patients hospitalised in Knysna
With the total amount of Covid-19 cases in Knysna crossing the 1 000-case threshold last week Tuesday, there is a total of 17 patients currently hospitalised with the virus, while in Bitou there are no hospitalisations with confirmed cases just over 400.
Last week, Knysna jumped from 970 on Monday 27 July to 1 002 on Tuesday 28 July and ending the week on 1 035 cases.
Despite this being a new high, the week-on-week increase of total cases in Knysna dropped by 88 last week from an increase of 205 (the highest increase yet) between 17 and 24 July to an increase of 117 between 24 and 31 July.
The 117-case increase is the lowest week-on-week increase since an increase of 79 cases between 19 and 26 June. Of the 1 035 cases in Knysna, 692 (66.86%) have recovered, with 24 deaths. There are currently 319 active cases in Knysna, of which 17 are in hospital with one in critical care.
In Bitou, the total number of cases reached 422 last week, an increase of 46 from the week before. This also meant that Bitou’s week-on-week increase dropped, falling by 35 from an increase of 81 cases between 17 and 24 July. The 46-case increase is also Bitou’s lowest week-on-week increase since an increase of 43 cases between 19 and 26 June. Of the 422 cases in Bitou, 288 (68.25%) have recovered, with 15 deaths.
There are currently 119 active Covid-19 cases in Bitou, with none hospitalised.
