History
Plett Pre-Primary was started in 1981 by Lesley Price-Jones and Penny Wells in the Lion’s Hall. The community collected money to build the school.
Originally there were only 2 classes, a third was added in 1986. The school on its present site will be 31 years old in 2012.
Penny Wells was the first principal, she left to do missionary work, Sue Wale was the next principal following her was Gill Bell.
Our current Principal, René Heyns, took over in 1988.

Meet the class of ‘46
Do you recognise these fresh-faced youngsters?
Plettenberg Bay resident Don Ribbans shared with CXPRESS this beautifully preserved photograph of teachers and students enrolled at the town’s primary school – located on the Odlands hill, on the site of today’s Arrowood apartments – in 1946. A smiling curly-haired Don, aged five, appears fourth from right in the front row.
Readers are invited to scan the list of names (in no particular order, with birth dates) below to see if they recognise old friends, family members, or even themselves – and feel free to contact us with feedback in this regard, or with other stories relating to schooling in Plett in days of yore, by email to esther@cxpress.co.za or by fax on 044 533 0852.
