Going Vegan at Vilacqua – a personal journey with Lello Incendiario
On the 11th July 2017, Vilacqua Boutique Guest Home hosted a thought provoking talk presented by Lello Increndiario, owner of Boca Dolce on Quarry Lake Estate and later we were treated to a tour of his estate.
Vilacqua Boutique Guest Home is a beautiful timeless guest home owned by Loretta Bevilacqua, who comes from a rich hospitality heritage – giving opportunity for the perfect Vegan Plett holidays!
Lello Increndiario shared his personal experience, after having been diagnosed with a Coronary Artery Disease, which led him onto a fresh and exciting new lifestyle.
After being diagnosed and medicated, Lello realised this was not the way he wanted to live out the rest of his life. He was also concerned about the side effects the medication would have on his health in the long run. After plenty of research he began to understand how the food he was eating contributed largely to his disease. Making a conscious decision, he changed his eating habits and lifestyle and since, has happily experienced his condition stabilize – in fact he has never felt healthier.
For many people this is where it ends, however Lello decided to walk the talk and show people just how easy it is to adjust to a healthier, conscious way of living. He packed up his life in Johannesburg and moved to Plettenberg Bay, where he established the Quarry Lake Estate, located on a 425-hectare sustainable farm, bringing you superbly healthy and natural food.
Even after much criticism by surrounding farmers who thought his organic attempts would fail, he has succeeded. Organic produce of the highest quality is being grown, without the use of pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, poisoned seeds or GMO products. The produce is then both sold and used to create amazing vegetarian and vegan-friendly meals.
