Beautiful Gardens, Beautiful Day!
Garden lovers from across the Garden Route enjoyed a beautifully relaxed day, as they made their way through four of Plettenberg Bay’s most exceptional gardens.
Plett Open Garden Day was held on Saturday the 19th November 2016 in aid of the Plett Animal Welfare Service (PAWS).
Since its inception in 2012, Plett Open Garden has become a firm fixture on the garden calendar. Well this year was a great success – with over 330 visitors making their way through the gardens and a staggering R44 000 was raised for PAWS. Well done to all who showed their support!
There is nothing more relaxing than spending a couple of hours in the serenity and peace of these beautiful settings. This year also featured the annual PAWS plant and cake sale, a local toy project and the stylish Shweshwe décor items which were on sale to support a local community project.
A peek of the gardens in all their splendor
Ouland Royale Restaurant and garden
A beautiful “baroque barn”, set in a lovely garden with a pond and a lovely water feature.
Oppenheimer Garden
Owner, Jetty Oppenheimer is sensitive to the fynbos in her garden, and chooses her plants primarily to reflect texture and shape.
Harris Garden
Designed by Graham von Hoesslin and features predominantly indigenous planting, with a focus on colour.
Park House
A natural, shady garden under the old existing Milkwood trees. It features plants that have been selected to attract nectar and fruit-eating birds, including the Knysna Loerie as well as bees and butterflies.
Well this should get your senses going for next years’ event. Well done to the owners of these outstanding gardens and Marsja Hall-Green for hosting an exceptional event in support of PAWS!
